Privacy Policy

Effective date: Apr 14, 2026

Book Fairy Tales (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a browser-based educational experience for families. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information in connection with our website and services (collectively, the “Services”). We design the Services with families and children in mind, including compliance with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) where it applies.

Who this applies to

The Services are intended to be used by parents and legal guardians (“parents”) who create and manage accounts on behalf of children. We do not knowingly permit children under 13 to register for an account on their own. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without parental consent, please use the contact methods we publish on this site when they become available so we can delete the information promptly.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect:

  • Parent account information. For example, an email address and credentials you choose, and billing-related information processed by our payment provider when subscriptions are offered.
  • Child profile information. Information you provide about a child, such as a nickname (not a full legal name), age or grade band, and learning preferences. We ask parents to avoid submitting unnecessary personal details about children.
  • Usage and technical data. For our public website we use self-hosted, first-party analytics: we record which pages were viewed, the day of the visit (not the exact time), approximate device and browser type, and referrer when available. We resolve country from your IP address at request time using a local database and do not store IP addresses. We do not use third-party analytics SDKs or advertising trackers for this purpose.
  • Content and activity data. Information generated through gameplay or learning activities, which may include progress metrics, session summaries, and text produced when features use artificial intelligence, as described in the product.
  • Communications. Information you send to us through forms or support channels when we make them available.

How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services;
  • Authenticate users, protect security, detect fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service;
  • Personalize educational content to the child’s level and selected curriculum track, where applicable;
  • Communicate with parents about the Services, including service-related notices and, where permitted, product updates;
  • Comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and protect rights, safety, and property; and
  • Analyze usage in aggregate to understand performance and plan improvements.

Legal bases (where applicable)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process personal data where we have a legitimate interest that is not overridden by your rights, where necessary to perform a contract with you, or where we have your consent, as required by applicable law.

How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We may share information:

  • Service providers. With vendors who assist us with hosting, security, email delivery, payment processing, customer support tooling, and similar functions, subject to contractual obligations.
  • AI and content infrastructure. Where features rely on third-party AI or infrastructure providers, prompts or context needed to generate educational content may be processed by those providers according to their terms and our agreements. We aim to minimize personal data included in such requests.
  • Legal and safety. When required by law, court order, or governmental request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or security.
  • Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Cookies and similar technologies

We may use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the Services to function (for example, session or security cookies when you log in). Marketing page analytics described above do not rely on analytics cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling certain cookies may limit functionality.

Data retention

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. When information is no longer needed, we take steps to delete or de-identify it, subject to backup and archival practices.

Security

We implement administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • Access, correct, or delete certain personal information;
  • Object to or restrict certain processing;
  • Port information where required by law; and
  • Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based.

Parents can review, update, or request deletion of child-related information tied to their account through account tools when available. We will respond to verifiable requests consistent with applicable law.

U.S. state privacy rights

Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional rights regarding personal information under local laws. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are commonly defined in state privacy laws, and we do not process sensitive personal information for prohibited purposes. You may exercise applicable rights through the mechanisms we provide on this site when available.

International users

If you access the Services from outside the United States, you understand that information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. We take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards where required by law.

Third-party sites

The Services may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices; please review their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the effective date. For material changes, we will provide additional notice as appropriate, such as a notice within the Services or on the website.

Contact

For privacy-related questions or requests, we will publish contact options on this website when they are available. Until then, please refer to notices within the Services or updates posted here.
